What is a Wainscot door?
A wainscot panel is a cabinet piece that is planted onto the exterior of a wall or cabinet. Wainscot doors most often have a squared edge (No Lip No Detail – NLND) on the outside for a clean look. They can have differently-sized stiles and rails and can contain 1 or more center panels.
How are they used?
Wainscots are used as decorative accent pieces which can create a “finished” look. Wainscot pieces are often ordered with details matching doors in the same room. They are applied to walls, the backs of islands, bars and more.
The Wall Paneling was custom made using the Bellingham (588) applied molding in Alder Select. |
Radius panels using the Tuscany (590) style in Alder Select perfectly complete this outside section of cabinetry. |
Information required to order:
- How many panels does the piece contain?
- If there are multiple panels, are they equally sized? If they are not equally sized, a drawing with the panels, center stile/rail placements and all sizes will get the exact design needed.
- Are all of the stile and rail sizes specified, including center stiles/rails? If there are multiple center stiles/rails and they vary in width of each other, the drawing needs to indicate their width?
- Does the piece need to be produced with NLND or are different edge details needed?
