Deco-Form® Drawer Front Options: Solid and Routed
Each door style we offer has one or more Drawer Front options. Specifically the outside face edge for most styles can be changed if needed. If the detail you are looking for isn’t something we normally offer, our Technical Services department may be able to provide a custom match for the closest detail possible.
Solid Drawer Front
Sometimes referred to as a Slab front, Solid Drawer Fronts are simple, flat Drawer Fronts that usually have an outside face edge shaped to match the door style to which they belong. They are used in all forms of cabinetry due to their simple design. Solid Drawer Fronts usually have smaller minimum widths and heights, making them an easy choice when trying to fit pieces into tight spaces. Of all Drawer Front options offered, a Solid Drawer Front will be the most economically priced.

Routed Drawer Front
Routed Drawer Fronts can be seen in many ways to be a step higher in cabinetry design than a simpler Solid Drawer Front. In terms of construction both Solid and Routed Drawer Fronts are very similar. They start as flat, slab pieces with an outside face edge detail usually shaped to match the door style to which they belong. Routed Drawer Fronts go one step further where a detail is carved (routed) into the face of the Drawer Front. This creates a unique character not seen in Solid Drawer Fronts. Due to the amount of space that this routed detail requires, the minimum size of a Routed Drawer Fronts are sometimes perceived as a step higher than a Solid Drawer Front and typically has a slightly higher cost as well.
Examples of Routed Drawer Fronts:
5-Piece Drawer Front (Expressions®)
Deco-Form® doors do not offer 5-Piece Drawer Fronts since Deco-Form® doors and Drawer Fronts all consist of designs routed into a solid piece of material. Most routed Drawer Fronts try to best mimic what a 5-Piece Drawer Front would look like for that selected door style.
The exception is our Expressions®, 5-Piece RTF line, which is constructed with 5 pieces, similar to a wood door. Expressions® styles are available with 5-Piece Drawer Fronts. They are made in a similar fashion to doors; as they have a frame and panel. For the Rosa (271) style, the size of the frame is reduced to allow for the smaller heights that Drawer Fronts usually require. All other Expressions® 5-Piece Drawer Fronts us the same frame width as the door frame. Though they are typically more expensive than a Solid Drawer Front, Expressions® 5-Piece Drawer Fronts can bring an aesthetic not found by any other style.
