Rope molding doors are made in the same manner as a mitered joint door. A special molding knife is used which cuts a groove for the rope molding insert. The rope molding is cut to size and glued into the individual frame parts before the 45 degree angle, mortise and tenon are applied.
The groove for the rope insert is fixed in size and other inserts are not available. For a unique look select a rope insert material that is different than the door frame material. Walnut rope insert on a maple frame provides interesting contrast and highlights the rope.
